Rauner launches non-campaign tour as Democratic challengers prepare for 2018

Gov. Bruce Rauner this week had few “official” events but his campaign announced an extensive agenda of appearances across Illinois.

However, Rauner said he was not campaigning, even though his campaign paid for the 10-city tour and promoted it heavily.

On this week’s “Only in Illinois,” we look at the growing field of Democratic challengers whose aggressive criticism of Rauner might have been a factor in his decision to launch his non-campaign campaign 17 months before he’ll face any of them in the 2018 general election.
