ICPR: 80 percent of new Illinois voters from Cook, Chicago, collars

The Illinois Campaign for Political Reform will be releasing data from the updated Illinois Voter Project in a multi-part series leading up to the November 6th General Election. In the first installment, we take a look at newly registered voters from November 2015 (the last voter file release date) to June 2016, when the most recent voter file was released by the Illinois State Board of Elections.

There were 251,202 new voters registered from November 2015 to present, contributing to a total of 7.8 million active registered voters in the state. This means that approximately 76% of eligible Illinois…
