New report ranks Illinois business tax climate

Illinois’ spot on a new ranking of states with the best and worst business tax climates might come as a surprise.

The Tax Foundation’s annual State Business Tax Climate Index ranks Illinois near the middle of the pack at No. 23, which remains unchanged from the previous year.

More than 100 variables across five types of taxation were measured to determine a state’s overall rank, including corporate, individual, sales, unemployment insurance and property taxes.
