Illinois home to most dangerous U.S. city with pop. under 200k

Illinois is home to the most dangerous city in the nation with a population between 100,000 and 200,000 people, according to a new report.

Law Street Media’s annual “Crime in America” rankings show Rockford edged out Little Rock, Ark., for the No. 1 spot after experiencing a 28 percent increase in violent crime from 2014-2015.

The rankings were determined using 2015 crime statistics reported to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting Program by local law enforcement agencies from around the country. Violent crime includes four types of offenses: murder and non-negligent manslaughter, rape, robbery and aggravated assault.
