Police: Woman Sandack met on social media demanded money from him

CHICAGO — An Illinois House Republican floor leader who abruptly resigned in July citing “cybersecurity” issues exchanged social media messages with a woman who then demanded money from him, according to report released Friday by Downers Grove police.

Former state Rep. Ron Sandack of Downers Grove, a close ally to Gov. Bruce Rauner, wired the woman money before contacting authorities, according to statement he gave to police. Sandack resigned weeks after closing multiple social media accounts.
